Guwahati: A sensational gang rape case has been reported from Assam where a woman returning home from a hospital after recovering from corona was raped by two youths. The woman, a resident of Charaidev district (Charaideo District), belongs to the family of tea garden workers from Borhat Nagamati area of Assam. The woman was admitted to Sapekhati Model Hospital after she was found to be infected with corona.

The woman as well as her husband and daughter also were corona positive. Though all were in home isolation at first, the trio was admitted to the hospital after the condition worsened. The woman's husband was discharged from the hospital on May 27 after the corona became negative. While the woman and her daughter were discharged from the hospital on Saturday. Due to the curfew issued in Assam, the mother and daughter could not find any vehicle to go home. The woman also appealed to the hospital authorities to arrange a vehicle for them as her house was 25 km from the hospital. However, the authorities rejected her appeal, after which the woman had the option to walk home.

Two youths chased the woman and her daughter and brutally raped her in Dhudarai area of Assam around 7 pm. However meanwhile the daughter managed to escape and reported the incident to nearby villagers and police. Local villagers and police found the victim in a critical condition after which she was admitted to a nearby hospital. The Charaidev district police have launched a case to arrest the culprits.
