Assam government will decide to open educational institutions only after SOP is issued

Guwahati: As the education department of the state of Assam, is planning to reopen the schools on September 1 today. But the state government will take a decision to reopen educational institutions only after the revised Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for COVID-19 is issued. Meanwhile, according to reports, educational institutions in the state will resume in a phased manner from September 6, 2021.

Official sources in the state education department said, “The government is not in a mood to take risks with the health of school students as they have not been vaccinated yet. A standard operating procedure for opening educational institutions in the state has been laid down by the Assam Education Department. Regarding the SOP, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the department will follow the guidelines laid down by the Assam Health Department.

Apart from this, the Education Minister also clarified that there is no problem in the availability of seats for fresh admission of HS 1st year. The admission process for first year students will run smoothly across all institutions, except a few institutes that admit students immediately after appearing in the matriculation examination. The education minister also informed that the education department is planning to conduct classes in two shifts - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
