Coronavirus is wreaking havoc in Assam. The state has reported one more corona death on Saturday, taking the state’s death toll to 1,012 while the state tally increased to 2,15,346 after the detection of 96 fresh cases. Assam’s positivity rate in the state stands at 0.48%.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on Saturday night said the new positive cases were detected out of 19,990 tests. He took to Twitter and wrote, “96 Cases detected out of 19990 tests conducted today with a positivity rate of 0.48%." Meanwhile, 108 more patients, who were earlier infected by Covid119, were discharged on Saturday after they recovered from the disease. The percentage of recovered patients in Assam is 97.89%. Assam currently has 3,526 active Covid19 cases, which is 1.64% of the total cases registered in the state so far.

Talking about corona cases in India, the country has crossed the grim milestone of one crore COVID-19 cases even as the spread of the virus slows down with almost a month being taken for the 10 lakh new infections unlike in the period from August till mid-November when they rose at a faster rate. The total number of coronavirus cases stood at 1,00,04,599, while the recoveries surged to over 95.50 lakh.
