An enraged mob set a police booth on fire at the West Bengal-Assam border on Friday night in a violent incident. The booth was set ablaze by the mob after an accident, according to officials. The incident occurred at Bhanga Pakri, West Bengal, on the border of the Alipurduar and Coochbehar districts. An enraged mob terrorised the neighbourhood on Friday night, setting fire to a police station along the Assam-West Bengal border. The West Bengal police built up a booth at the border for Naka checking. Vehicles from both states are examined here, according to officials. An accident occurred in front of the booth on Friday, resulting in an irate mob. Officials say the crowd vandalised the booth before blowing up it.

The accident implicated a local teen, but there was no official confirmation of the number of people killed. Following the incident, residents protested by blocking the national highway that connects the two states. The vandalism of the inspection booth and the blocking of the Assam-West Bengal border road caused a traffic jam on the popular stretch late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The Nadia road accident

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences to the families of those killed in a horrific road accident in West Bengal's Nadia earlier this month. On November 28, a vehicle carrying the bodies of the dead drove into a stationary truck, killing 18 people and injuring five more during a funeral procession. Low visibility due to fog, according to authorities, may have contributed to the accident. Six others died as a result of their injuries on the route to the hospital or during treatment, according to the PTI report. Locals and police rushed the injured to Shaktinagar General Hospital, where doctors examined them and referred the most seriously injured to another medical facility in Krishnanagar. When the tragedy happened, one of the injured reported he and others were on their way from Chakdah to the Nabadwip cremation ground.. In a separate incident on the same week, a lorry laden with boulders overturned in Siliguri in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, killing four people and injuring at least three others.
