Srinagar: The delimitation of assembly seats in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is in the final stages. So this year, assembly elections can be held here. The Delimitation Commission has placed the final draft of its report before the public. People will be able to give their opinions and objections on the draft till 5 pm on March 21. After this, the delimitation commission team will visit the state on March 28 and 29. During this time, they will know the ground reality as well as interact with many stakeholders, including the administration.
According to the draft, the report of the Jammu and Kashmir delimitation, which has been kept for the suggestions of the people, mentions a total of 114 assembly seats, of which 90 seats will go to the polls. The remaining seats fall in PoK. If we talk about Lok Sabha seats, then both the divisions of Jammu and Kashmir will get two and a half seats each in the Lok Sabha. Two seats each will be in both the divisions. While a seat will be shared partnership. A small portion of it will be from both divisions.
The Delimitation Commission had submitted its interim report containing 5 associate members in February. Two of them were given in February to MPs representing the people of the state through the BJP from the Jammu division and three from the Kashmir division through NC. In two weeks, he gave his advice, suggestions and objections. Now the people will give their opinion. The Commission will then submit its final report to the Union Home Ministry. The term of the Commission has been extended for the third and last time by two months till May 6, 2022.
