RAJKOT: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, said on Saturday that the attack on AAP general secretary Manoj Sorathia was nothing more than a reflection of the BJP's insecurity at the rising popularity of his party.
The AAP convenor said during a press conference that the party polled Surat city following the attack on Sorathia to determine its destiny. According to the poll, the party is expected to win seven out of the city's 12 Assembly seats, he said.
"However, the AAP's rising popularity will make its leaders the target of more BJP attacks of this nature. Not only the AAP leaders, but those who support and campaign for it, will also be targetted," Arvind Kejriwal said.He expressed concern that the BJP would launch significant attacks on people to dissuade them from backing AAP.
Notably, Sorathia was allegedly beaten by BJP members on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi while he was inspecting preparations at a Ganesh pandal.
Kejriwal said, "We are followers of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Sahid Bhagat Singh and are capable of giving a proper reaction. We are not Congressmen to suffer such such assaults.
He said recently, state residents are acting as party ambassadors. He cited a recent event in which thousands of buses operated by the State transport corporations were detoured while bus drivers and conductors pleaded with the public to usher in a change of guard.
