In the opening test match at Perth, it was Rabada who have demolished the Australian batting attack to give them 4th consecutive test defeat. Hobart test is going even worse, this time Vernon Philander has made the hosts to all out on the mere total of 85, giving them their lowest total against the proteas. Now SA is heading towards consecutive 3 series win against the hosts, the same was achieved by West Indies team in 90's.

Only the captain Steve Smith have made 48 until the end means the whole team couldn't even stand equal to him. Philander have taken 5 wickets giving 21 runs in total. The Australian team is not having so good time right now and now they are moving towards another series loss. Being in the home they were considered the strong contender to hold the pride but the Smith and team have completely failed upon the expectations.

In response, SA has started well and till tea, they have managed to reach 43 without losing any wicket. Australia dropped all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and gave Test debuts to batsman Ferguson at No.6 and paceman Mennie, while Burns replaced injured opener Shaun Marsh.
