International cricket witnesses a new world record by Australian women on Sunday. Australia beat New Zealand Women by six wickets in the first ODI at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui makes a world record. Australian women's cricket team broke the all-time record for the most back-to-back wins in One-Day Internationals.
Earlier in the year 2003, Ricky Ponting's Australian men's team made such a record. Now surpassing the longest winning streak held by Ricky Ponting's Australia men's team since 2003. The victory against New Zealand was all out for 212 with seven balls left in their 50 overs. Australia's record-breaking run started in India in March 2018, winning the ODI series 3-0. Megan Schutt and Alyssa Healy have powered Australia to a world-record 22nd straight ODI win, crushing New Zealand by six wickets and setting a new benchmark for dominance of the sport. Opener Lauren Down top-scored for the hosts with a 134-ball 90. Captain Amy Satterthwaite and Amelia Kerr chipped in with 32 and 33 runs, respectively as New Zealand reached 159/2 in 37 overs. However, after Kerr's departure, New Zealand suffered a dramatic collapse and were bowled out for 212 in 48.5 overs.
Despite the shot at glory, Schutt said it was not discussed by players. “We didn’t mention it before we went out to the field today ... but it’s nice to have it now,” she said.
