New Delhi: The 24th captain of the Australian ODI team, Aaron Finch, on Sunday (September 11) announced his retirement from One Day International cricket after the third ODI against New Zealand. However, he will lead the Australian team in the T20 World Cup to be held on home soil next month. Aaron Finch will play his 146th and final ODI match at the Kajlis Stadium in Cairns on Sunday.

Aaron Finch has captained his country in 54 matches in his illustrious ODI career. He has 17 centuries in ODI matches. Aaron Finch will play his 146th and last ODI match at the Kajlis Stadium in Cairns on Sunday. A statement issued by Cricket Australia quoting Aaron Finch said, 'It has been a wonderful journey with some incredible memories. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be a part of such an amazing ODI team. I have been equally blessed and supported by all those with whom I have played cricket. Many people are also behind the scenes.'

Let us tell you that Aaron Finch took over the captaincy of the ODI team full-time in 2018. He led Australia in the 2019 World Cup. He also made Australia the winner of the 2021 T20 World Cup under his captaincy. He has a particularly impressive record against England (average 48.35, 7 centuries), Pakistan (average 49.16, two centuries) and India (average 48.66, 4 centuries).
