Melbourne: Australian PM Scott Morrison on Friday announced that 4.5 million doses of corona virus vaccine that hit the country in September could now be available in August. He said that from July 19, one million doses of Pfizer vaccine will reach Australia every week, which is currently 350,000 doses per week.

Addressing the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, PM Morrison said, "We have achieved a lot in the month of June, and now we have reached the levels necessary to complete the work. The deal will increase the number of Australians who can get vaccinated during the winter months to help fight the ongoing corona outbreak in Sydney." PM Morrison further said, "We are also being brought into the stream by 1,300 additional GPs (general doctors) this month who are coming to give Pfizer doses."

As of Thursday, 10 per cent of Australians over the age of 16 had been fully vaccinated with two doses of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine, which was approved for use by the Medical Goods Administration (TGA) in the country.
