Tata Motors will not lay off employees even after the slowdown in the domestic automobile market. The company hopes to improve performance on the basis of new products launched in the next few months. The company's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Gunter Butschek gave this information in an interview with PTI. He was asked whether the company could lay off employees due to the continued softening in the vehicle sector, adding, "We have no such plans." He said that if the company had plans to do something like this, it would have done it already.
According to company sources, the company is taking all necessary steps in the commercial vehicle sector to reverse the current situation. This sector has been the company's base in terms of revenue. He said, "We have the right products, our dealer network is doing great work right now and we think that we will be able to ride the wave." He said that the company has all kinds of arrangements including cost reduction and taking quality control measures.
According to the report, if you wanted to lay off, you would have done it already. The company will launch other products in the next few months, including the Altrose, Nexon EV and Gravitas SUV. Apart from this, India is also adopting phase six emission standards. According to sources, the company is confident that whatever direction the economy goes, it is ready to outperform the market. As these products are of different price ranges, the company is in a better position than the profit potential. Therefore, the company is still very positive.
There is no need to lay off employees at this time, because we will need manpower at a time when the market is growing. However, Butschek admitted that he had not seen such uncertainty in his 30-year career so far. He said, "We need to watch things with caution ... be flexible and adopt a better understanding." What we are seeing now are for more structural reasons than just cyclic. In such a situation, the future becomes uncertain.
