The Indian government has banned the BS(Bharat Stage) III compliant vehicles in the market, observing the increasing pollution levels in India. The Automotive firms were not ready for the deadline of 1st April, as most of the stock are still left to sell.

Now, all the India automakers plead to the government to extend the deadline, as 8.2 lakh units of the cars are placed untouched in the stock and still need to be sold. 

As per the analysis by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) , "All vehicle manufacturers have continued and even increased production of BS III vehicles in the last quarter. SIAM has explained this by saying that sales are always high from February to March. However, this only confirms that there was no shift to BS IV. Ashok Leyland, for example, produced 10,935 vehicles in January 2016 whereas it was 11,563 vehicles in January 2017."
