LUCKNOW: In Uttar Pradesh, there is good news for Ayushman Bharat scheme. The Ayushman Bharat scheme's services will now include bone marrow transplantation, which is frequently advised for cancer patients.
Sangeeta Singh, CEO of the state agency for comprehensive health insurance and integrated services, which oversees the scheme's implementation in Uttar Pradesh, said "Medical literature shows that patients in need of this transplant, particularly those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, do not choose the procedure because of the cost. Thus, it has been included in the list of services provided under the Ayushman Bharat umbrella." She stated that medical colleges play a critical role in assisting patients in obtaining Ayushman Bharat benefits.
"Despite the availability of services inside Uttar Pradesh, patients were being referred to other states in several areas," she added, urging heads of state-run institutes and medical colleges to look into the flaws in their system and plug them as soon as possible.
According to Dr Shakhar Prinja, executive director of the National Health Authority, a total of 365 procedures/treatments have been included in the Ayushman Bharat list. Interventional cardiology, mental health, neurology, and nephrology are among the treatments on the list.
