New Delhi: There will be no entry fee in the country's historic buildings for the next 10 days i.e. from 'August 5 to 15'. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy tweeted on Wednesday (August 3, 2022) informing about this. The order will come into effect from August 5 (Friday). The Union Ministry of Culture said that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) across the country has announced free entry to all protected monuments and sites from August 5 to 15. He also shared a statement from ASI.

The statement reads, 'As part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi and 75th Independence Day celebrations, ASI has made a free entry for tourists to all its protected monuments/sites across the country from 5th to 15th August 2022.' Let us tell you that under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' campaign, several initiatives are being taken by the Union Culture Ministry to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India's independence. Free entry to monuments, and museums are also a part of this initiative. Earlier, many leaders including PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda put the 'tricolour' on the DP of their social media accounts on Tuesday (August 2, 2022) and appealed to the people to do the same.

Let us know that PM Modi had said in his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat' on July 31 that the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' is turning into a mass movement. At the same time, he had urged the public to put up a picture of the 'tricolour' as a DP on his social media accounts between August 2 and 15. PM Modi had also tweeted, "Today 2nd August is a special day! At a time when we are celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, our country is all set for the Tiranga Campaign at every house. The Tiranga Mahotsav is a mass movement. I have changed DP on my social media and request you all to do the same.''
