The bravery of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was unmatched. He had a brave and unflappable spirit. Banda Bahadur "was a man of undaunted valor and bravery." Even the historian Khafi Khan praised Banda for the dignity with which he met his death.

After Guru Gobind Singh's passing, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur assumed control of the Sikhs' military operations. After converting to Sikhism, he vowed to live a modest and pure life while adhering to the teachings of the Gurus and becoming a devoted Khalsa Sant-Soldier of Guru Gobind Singh.

During his time as the Jathedar of the Sikhs the followers of the young faith increased with many Hindus and even large numbers of Muslims becoming Sikhs. Nawab Amin-ud-Daula writes in the third Ruqat-I-Amin-Ud-Daula as follows, "Many Hindus and musicians adopted their faith and rituals. And their chief (Baba Banda Singh Bahadur) captivated the hearts of musicians who came in contact with him. He addressed them with the title of Singh. Accordingly, Dinder Khan, a powerful ruler of the neighborhood was named Dinder Singh, and Mir Nasir-ud-Din was renamed as Mir Nasir Singh."

The wretched guy had his tent in the town of Kalanaur up until the ninth instant, a Mughal scribe tasked with informing the Mughal Darbar of happenings reported to the Emperor about Banda Bahadur's actions. He declared and committed that "I do not oppress Muslims" during that time. He established a daily wage and takes care of them. He has permitted them to do Namaz and read the Khutba. Up to 5,000 Muslims had gathered near him. They are now free to raise their appeal and pray in the army of the destitute because they have entered his friendship.

In contrast to the previous Emperor Bahadur Shah (Aurangzeb's son), who had been helped by the Sikhs and Guru Gobind Singh in securing the Mughal throne, an imperial order ordering that "every Sikh wherever found should be put to death without any hesitation and any further thought" was issued on December 10, 1710 (after the Guru's death), according to the report by the Mughal official. The second Emperor after Bahadur Shah I, Furrukhsiyar would eventually die as a result of his excessive brutality towards his subjects.

The first autonomous sovereign state under Sikh sovereignty was founded by Banda Bahadur, and it had its coinage and seal.

 Despite being brief; it set the Sikhs on the path to later establish their government in various areas of Punjab. The personal appeal of Banda Bahadur was too tremendous for the Mughals to ignore, according to Sri Gokal Chand Narang in his book, Transformation of Sikhism, as his unflinching fortitude and exceptional heroism bound his supporters firmly to him. In large part because of Banda Bahadur's exceptional piety and noble character, not a single Sikh among the hundreds who were captured and killed by the Mughal Government rejected his faith to preserve his own life.
