Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891. He was the 14th and final child of Ramji Maloji Sakpal and Bhimabai Murbadkar. His family was Marathi and he belongs to Ambavade town which is in Ratnagiri district of modern Maharashtra. In view of many contemporary politicians, his life-span was short. They belonged to the Mahar caste who were called untouchables. But even during this period, he did many works of study, writing, speech and organization, which had an impact on the politics of that time.

The date of 25 November is recorded in history with a major important event of independent India. Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar gave the concluding speech at the last meeting of the Constituent Assembly on 25 November 1949. On this special occasion, he described in detail the challenges faced by the newly created nation and suggested ways to deal with those challenges in very restrained terms.

It is worth mentioning here that the challenges which Baba Saheb had described as a hindrance in nation-building at that time, are present in front of the country even today with equal vigor. It was his foresight that in the last speech of the Constituent Assembly, he brought out the end of economic and social equality as a national agenda.
