Babasaheb Bhosle is a known figure in Indian Politics. He was born on 15th January 1921 in the Satara district of Maharashtra, he was a freedom fighter in India and also a skilled politician. He served as chief minister of Maharashtra from 21st January 1982 to 1st February 1983. Babasaheb Bhosle died on October 6, 2007, at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai and was 86 years old.

Babasaheb was an alumnus of Shahji Law College in Kolhapur, after passing the exam in London, he served as Satara's lawyer for a decade. Babasaheb started the life of the Politics in 1978, he joined the Congress party and contested the assembly elections from Nehru Nagar assembly constituency in Kurla, Mumbai as the party's candidate in which he lost. In 1980, he became a member of the party after the Maharashtra elections and then later became chief minister.

Babasaheb while working as chief minister, had specifically examined corruption in the distribution of liquor, distilling licences and allotment of flats in Bombay. Thereafter, Babasaheb's tenure ended on February 1, 1983, after the election of Vasantrao Patil for the post of Chief Minister by Congress party MLAs.
