Lucknow: Beer enthusiasts in Uttar Pradesh may have an increased load on their pockets after the new excise policy is implemented next year. The Excise Department is preparing to increase the prices of beer in the new financial year. If the department's proposal gets a green signal from the cabinet, the prices will increase. This increase will happen after two years. During the crisis period of the Corona epidemic, when people were avoiding colds and chills, the sale of beer in the entire state had dropped unexpectedly.

To encourage the business of beer, the Excise Department reduced the tax, which reduced the price by Rs 20. In the current financial year, while the impact of Corona was quite low, the sale of beer increased a lot. According to officials, English liquor sales grew by up to 60 percent, while beer sales jumped 80 percent. In the summer days, there was an unexpected increase. There is a continuous demand from traders that the price should be increased. On the basis of this, a proposal has been prepared to increase the price back. The proposal for an increase will be placed in the meeting of the department.

Last time, cheap liquor became expensive, but there was no change in the price of expensive liquor. That is, the prices of the quarter of English liquor, which was less than Rs 150, had increased, but the price of the quarter which was more than Rs 150 was not increased. It is possible to increase its price by Rs 10 per quarter this time.
