The Badminton Association of India on Friday has sent the name of Kidambi Srikanth for the Khel Ratna Award. Who also apologized for withdrawing from a tournament, while giving a show cause notice to HS Prannoy who criticized the federation for not being named for the Arjuna Award.
However both Srikkanth and Prannoy did not play in the semi-finals of the Asian Team Championship in Manila in February. Both went to Barcelona to play a second tournament. India lost the semi-finals but finished third in the tournament. On a disciplinary basis, the Badminton Association has not sent the names of world number 14 Srikanth and number 28 player Prannoy to the Khel Ratna and Arjuna awards respectively. Srikanth's application was extended to the Sports Ministry, but Prannoy has been asked to respond to the rhetoric made against the federation within 15 days.
In this regard, the Badminton Association said in a statement, "Srikanth and Prannoy left the Asian Badminton Championship team in Manila in February, when they were told not to do so. This almost ruined India's hopes of winning a historic medal. 'It said,' We have received the email of Shrikant who has admitted his mistake and has promised not to do it again in future. In view of his talent and achievements, we have sent his name for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. '
