Patna: Former Bihar MLA Rajan Tiwari has been arrested while fleeing to Nepal. He was arrested from the Nepal border. It is being said that Rajan Tiwari, who was MLA from Gobindganj in Motihari, was fleeing to Nepal when the Haraiya police station noticed him. After that, the SHO nabbed Rajan Tiwari.

Former MLA Rajan Tiwari carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. In December 2005, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Rajan Tiwari by a UP court. On May 15, 1998, four miscreants, along with Shriprakash Shukla and Rajan Tiwari, who were dons of Uttar Pradesh, were booked under the Gangster Act at Cantt police station in Gorakhpur. Former MLA Rajan Tiwari has been arrested by Motihari police and UP Police from the Raxaul border of Indo-Nepal. SP Kumar Ashish said that many cases have been registered against Rajan Tiwari, who was an MLA from Govindganj assembly constituency, in UP, the Uttar Pradesh Police has also announced a reward of Rs 20,000 on Rajan Tiwari.

Rajan Tiwari, originally from Sohgaura village in Gorakhpur district of UP, also had his early education in this district. At a young age, Rajan Tiwari stepped into the world of crime. After coming in contact with mafia don Sriprakash Shukla of the 90s, Rajan Tiwari's name came up in many crimes. Rajan Tiwari was also involved in cases related to Sriprakash Shukla, due to which he started being counted among the musclemen. Rajan Tiwari's name had also cropped up in the attack on Virendra Pratap Shahi, who was an MLA from the Laxmipur assembly seat in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh. In this incident, 4 persons including mafia don Sriprakash Shukla and Rajan Tiwari were made criminals. Due to this criminal act, Rajan Tiwari had become wanted by the Uttar Pradesh Police. This was the time when Rajan Tiwari moved to Bihar and started looking for political ground to avoid legal action. However, Rajan Tiwari was released in 2014 in connection with the attack on Virendra Pratap Shahi.
