Ranbir Kapoor was recently in discussions for starring in Sanjay Leela's Baiju Bawra. The talks around Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming movie Baiju Bawra do not seem to end with each passing day. It was previously stated that not Ranveer Singh but Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead in the upcoming flick, marking the filmmaker and actor's second collaboration after the latter's debut film Saawariya. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding the same.
Now as per recent reports, two A-list stars will accompany the cast of the upcoming film. Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt are in discussions to be seen alongside Ranbir in Baiju Bawra. A source informed a leading daily that SLB has already narrated the script to Alia and Deepika. It is also being said that both the actresses have loved their parts. "Alia will be paired opposite Ranbir's Baiju in the film, stepping into Meena Kumari's shoes from the original. Deepika will play the other female lead, that of dacoit Roopmati essayed by Kuldip Kaur in the 1952 drama. Both the actors will be Ranbir's romantic interests in the period saga and have shown a keen interest in the project," the source stated.
Their questions were not ignored when the publication reached out to SLB's spokesperson. Hence, an official confirmation is awaited as of now. While makers are yet to approve on Ranbir's part, there have been rumors that the actor is 'almost' in for the role as he liked the script. If all goes well then this will mark Deepika and Alia's first movie outing together. Lauded as SLB's most ambitious project, the making of Baiju Bawra was announced in Diwali last year. The flick is a revenge story of a maverick maestro of the same name.
