Bajaj Auto Limited has launched the Chetak Premium 2023 Edition at Rs1.51 lakh.
On the other side, Bajaj has reduced the cost of the Chetak's current premium edition, which is currently available for Rs.1.21 lakh.
The new Premium Edition of the Chetak electric scooter comes in three new colours: matte coarse grey, matte caribbean blue, and satin black. It also has a new, full-color LCD display. A two-tone seat, body-colored rearview mirrors, a satin black grab rail, and matching pillion footrest castings are other product highlights. Now in Charcoal Black are the headlight housing, blinkers, and centre trim components. The battery and the motor have not been updated outside of these aesthetic changes.
Till the end of January 2023, the Bajaj Chetak is expected to have sold a total of 38,771 units since its inception. In comparison, the TVS iQube e-scooter, which was also introduced in January 2020, sold 77,664 fewer units.
The Bajaj Chetak's reduced 90km range on a single charge and lesser network compared to its competitors have, to some extent, hurt sales. Bajaj Auto released a circular last month claiming that the Chetak's claimed Indian Driving Conditions (IDC) range is set to improve by 20% to 108km in an effort to solve this. This expanded riding range ought to encourage more sales.
Around 60 Indian cities currently offer the Chetak EV for sale. By the end of March 2023, Bajaj Auto hopes to have the e-scooter available in over 100 stores spread across 85 cities. More than 40 of these shops are upscale experience hubs.
