Bakrid is one of the biggest festivals among Muslims. People celebrate Bakrid with great pomp and show. It is a tradition to sacrifice goats on this day and then some portion of goat meat is offered to Allah. Some part of it is distributed among the poor, friends, and family.

Story of Bakrid

There is a belief behind the sacrificial goat that on this day, Allah had asked Hazrat Ibrahim for the best thing he had, in return, Hazrat Ibrahim, as his most close, offered the sacrifice of his son Ismail. When Hazrat keeps his son for sacrifice, a goat is sacrificed the next moment by the miracle of Allah in his place. Allah wanted to test Hazrat and seeing him pass in it, Allah accepted the goat sacrifice in exchange for his son.

Some special things related to Bakrid

- The sacrifice of a goat on the day of Bakrid is a symbol. Therefore, it also does not mean that it is necessary to sacrifice the goat.

- During this time, a small or any goat cannot be sacrificed which is physically weak or has no disease of any kind.

- It is mentioned in the Quran that Allah only has the feeling of giving something to the man and not something else.

- It is not necessary to sacrifice the goat. Rather Allah sees to what extent people can sacrifice their most beloved thing for him.

- The sacrifice should be given to such a person, on whom there is no debt of any kind.

- Eid prayers are performed before the sacrifice.

- On this day all the people wish each other for the festival and children, women, men, old and all people wear new clothes on this day.
