Bangarraju, starring Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya, is off to a flying start at the box office. On its first day, the film grossed close to Rs 8.2 crores globally, which is a remarkable achievement. The release of the Sankranthi season is certainly helping the cause.

But the real problem for Bangarraju will begin on January 18th, when Andhra Pradesh imposes a 50 percent sitting capacity restriction and a night curfew.

Bangarraju is doing particularly well in the Andhra area, but if the seating capacity limitations are implemented, this territory may not contribute as much. This is currently Bangarraju's most serious danger.

Given that it is the only blockbuster to debut in theatres this festival season, the family entertainer was acquired for a relatively high price in AP as exhibitors and distributors rushed to acquire the film's rights. For the picture to recoup its costs, it must do well for at least a couple of weeks. But, with the implementation of the aforementioned laws in AP, would it be able to do so? We'll have to wait and see what happens.
