Srinagar: In a proactive move against drug peddlers, the Baramulla Police has taken decisive action by confiscating properties belonging to a well-known drug peddler named Farooq Ahmad Mir. These seized properties include valuable assets such as one Kanal and 10 Marlas of land, along with a residential house valued at around Rs. 20.00 lakhs.

This enforcement action was conducted under the provisions of sections 68-E and 68-F (1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. The initiative is directly linked to ongoing cases, namely FIR No.50/2019 and 55/2023 under sections 8/20, 29 of the NDPS Act registered at PS Tangmarg, as well as case FIR No. 142/2022 under section 8/20 of the NDPS Act lodged at PS Kunzer. Through meticulous investigation, law enforcement officials determined that these properties were acquired through illegal activities associated with narcotic drug trafficking.

This bold move by the police reaffirms their unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society. The local community has commended the efforts of law enforcement in taking such proactive measures to address this pressing issue.

Earlier instances of similar actions by the Jammu and Kashmir police, where properties worth approximately Rs. 60 lakhs were seized from drug peddlers in Baramulla district, underscore the seriousness with which authorities are tackling drug-related crimes in the region.
