Barcelona reports a loss of $113 million due to COVID-19

The Corona Pandemic is making people lose their lives and affects the economy at its low. No wonder the sports players are getting affected by the pandemic both economically and mentally. The Barcelona club on Monday said that the corona impact has cost the club more than 200 million Euros ($234 million) in revenue. A loss of 97 million Euros ($113 million) was reported by Barcelona for the 2019-20 seasons and is the economic deficit of Corona impact.

The Catalan Club reported that the club reaches its revenue of 855 million Euros ($1billion) but would have made 203 million Euros ($238 million) more if COVID-19 did not produce such a greater impact over the globe. The club added if there is no COVID-19 impact then the club would have reached its planned milestone of 1 billion Euros ($1.2 billion) in revenue. The club might be closed this year with a profit of 2 million Euros ($2.3 million) if there is no pandemic.

Barcelona club said through the continued and mandatory “efforts to control and reduce spending to cover for the lost revenue” has enabled the club to save roughly about 74 million Euros ($86.7 million). The club said all the efforts are in action to protest Camp Nou. A new financial model was made for the renovation of the Camp Nou, a football stadium in Barcelona, aiming to “protects all current financial assets and land owned” by Barcelona.
