New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has accepted the waiver of Indian team wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik. The Board has given this apology in case of breaking the rules of the central contract. With this, the matter got repaired. The wicketkeeper-batsman had violated the BCCI central contract by watching the match of the Caribbean Premier League from Shah Rukh Khan's dressing room of Triinbago Knight Riders. Dinesh Karthik sought an 'unconditional apology' after receiving notice from the board. Karthik is the captain of the IPL's Kolkata Knight Riders team.
He was seen watching the match in Trinbago's jersey in the dressing room. According to the central contract of the BCCI, Karthik, who played 26 Tests and 94 ODIs for the country, should have got approval from the board for this match. Being a central contract player, Dinesh Karthik cannot join any other franchise league other than IPL. It is clearly written in the Central Contract that they cannot join any private league and this rule also applies to all active first class cricketers. Karthik, while replying to the BCCI notice, put the blame on KKR coach Brendon McCallum.
