Chennai: In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, a 21-year-old Dalit girl lodged a complaint with Nellore, claiming that she had come in contact with a youth on the social media platform Instagram. After that both started living in live-in relationship. Meanwhile, the young man forced her to accept Islam forcibly. The girl had told in the complaint that in the year 2021, she got acquainted with Imran Hameef through Instagram. Later, the two became friends, after a few days they started meeting.
After this the accused Hameef brought her to Thirupur and both of them started living in live-in relationship here. During this, the accused tortured her for forcibly converting to Islam. The girl had also said that Imran took her mobile and posted pictures of her during her live-in relationship on her Instagram ID. Also threatened to put the video of his bath on social media if he did not accept Islam. The girl said in her complaint that the accused Imran used casteist words for her and also forced her several times. During this, he also took obscene pictures.
The girl said that she was fed up with the constant harassment, so she had come back to her home, but she went back to Thirupur to collect her documents. Meanwhile, the accused took his mobile and used his Instagram to upload the photos. On the complaint of the girl, Nellore police registered a case against the accused under sections 354A, 506(1), 66C, 66E, 67A IT Act and SC/ST Act of IPC and arrested the accused Imran Hameef. Started investigation.
