The Indian men's hockey team suffered a 2-3 defeat at the hands of world champions Belgium in the FIH Pro League match in the struggling Mookabale. India did a big upset by beating the world number one team 2–1 in the first match played at Kalinga Stadium. After this defeat, the Indian team is second in the FIH Pro League table with eight points from four matches. Belgium are on top with 14 from six matches. This is the first defeat of the Indian team playing in the league for the first time. Alexandre Hendrix (2 minutes), De Carpel (17th minute) and Maxime Pleneveaux (25th minute) scored one each for Belgium. For India, Vivek Sagar (15th minute) and Amit Rohidas (18th minute) scored goals.

For your information, let us tell you that Belgium started well in the match and in the second minute took a 1-0 lead with Hendrix's goal. Vivek Sagar Prasad scored in the 15th minute to level the score 1-1. In the second quarter too, Karpel (17th minute) scored in the second minute to put Belgium once again ahead 2–1. However, this edge was only one minute. Amit scored in the next minute to make the score 2-2.

According to reports, Belgium took a 3–2 lead in the 25th minute from the superb Gayle of Maxime. India got a penalty corner in the 33rd minute of the second half, but Harmanpreet could not convert it into a goal. After this, India also lost the penalty corner in the 45th minute.
