New Delhi:  England star all-rounder Ben Stokes said that the thorn matches, like the fourth T20 International against India, would help them prepare for the World Cup better. Because they will be ready to face pressure situations. The Eoin Morgan-led team looked to take an unassailable 3–1 lead in the five-match series but eventually lost to India by eight runs. This makes the fifth match to be held on Saturday like a final.

Stokes told the press after the match on Thursday that "whoever wins this match, the series will be named after him. So you know that as a team it is very good for us, especially when the T20 World Cup is not far away. The more we play in pressure situations, the more we gain from it. The more pressure our team faces, the more we get in the World Cup because every match in the World Cup is very important." He said that we want to win the series under any circumstances.

Stokes had brought England closer to victory by scoring 46 off 23 balls, but Shardul Thakur brought India back into the match by dismissing Captain Morgan. Stokes said, "One of our batsmen should have stayed till the end. It was not an ideal situation for the lower-order batsmen to score more runs. In such a situation, one of our middle-order batsmen would have to stay till the target. Should have been reached. It is disappointing when you feel that the match is in your hands but you lost."
