The government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to make free pilgrimage to Haridwar and Rishikesh to senior and native citizens of the state from March 9. Selected passengers will be taken by a special train. The railway will be chartered for this scheme by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Travelers will be made to travel from Lucknow to Haridwar only through charter. The passengers selected for this journey will be given budget class facilities during the journey. Travel kits will be provided to the passengers during the journey. Arrangements will have to be made by the passengers to come from their place of residence to Lucknow railway station.

Principal Secretary of Charitable Affairs Navneet Sehgal informed that the selection of pilgrims will be done by determining seniority on the basis of date of birth and giving preference to the senior citizens. Evening tea and dinner (in the train only) will be given. Only vegetarian food will be provided to the passengers. Sehgal informed that berths will be reserved for a total of 1044 passengers in the train. He said that during the journey IRCTC will also provide travel accident insurance for every passenger. He informed that interested travelers can submit their application to the District Magistrate of their district by February 1. Information will be made available to the selected passengers by the District Magistrates on their selection and related information.

Sehgal said that if the status of the wife or husband of a senior applicant and (near relatives like daughter-son etc.) is less than the prescribed senior status, then the husband and wife can travel together or near, relaxing the rules in this regard. You can take relatives together. These people will also be given free travel by the department. Arrangements will be made in Haridwar to provide clean and clean Dharamshala, on the basis of hotel partnership. There will also be a tour companion in each coach of the train, which will ensure the care of passengers, immediate resolution of their problems, information and other arrangements.
