Kolkata: West Bengal has started preparing to fight the new corona variant Omicron. A hospital has been selected here to treat people infected with omicron in and around Kolkata. In fact, omicron patients will be treated at Beliaghata ID and MR Bangur Hospital in Kolkata. Though no trace of omicron has been found in the state so far, preparations are already being made here.

Corona infection continues to decline in West Bengal amidst the threat of omicron. A health bulletin issued by the Health Department here revealed that 621 people have been found corona positive during 24 hours. Samples of 40,362 people have been tested during 24 hours. The state government in a statement said, "To control the omicron variant, it is necessary to work in accordance with the rules of the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Airport Authority, Transport, Health and various departments. '

State chief secretary HK Dwivedi has issued directions saying that "those coming to the airport from abroad will have to undergo RT PCR test as per health ministry rules. If the test report is positive, the person will be taken to Beliaghata ID Hospital. There, samples of the saliva of the person will be collected and sent to Kalyani's genome sequence laboratory. If an omicron is found from the genome test report, it will be treated in a separate isolation ward at Beliaghata ID or MR Bangur Hospital. A total of 100 beds, 50-50 beds have been constructed in both the hospitals here.
