Bengali actor and former Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal died due to a heart attack on Tuesday. He had gone to Mumbai to meet his daughter and when he was coming back to Kolkata, he had severe chest pain at the airport and after that, he was taken to Juhu hospital. He succumbed at around 4 am. Recently information provided by the news agency PTI has stated that he had a heart-related problem earlier and he had gone to the hospital in this connection several times in the last two years.

Recently, Bengali actor Ranjit Malik said on the death of Tapas Pal that, "I have just come to know about this. His health did not go well for some time." Tapas, born in Chandranagar, West Bengal, did his graduation in BioScience from Hooghly Mohsin College and in 1980 he made his debut with Tarun Mazumdar's Bengali film Dadar Keerti. Madhu Roy Choudhary, Debarshi Roy, and Sandhya Roy were seen with him in the film.

After working for four years in Bengali cinema, Tapas made his first Hindi film titled Abodh and in this film, he worked with Madhuri Dixit. She made her debut in Hindi cinema with the film Hiren Nag directed in 1984.
