Bengali playback singer Pratik Choudhury dies of a cardiac arrest

Popular Bengali singer Pratik Choudhury passed away on Tuesday at the age of 55. The singer suffered a cardiac arrest and soon he was rushed to a private hospital in Kolkata where took his last breath.

Pratik began his career in music in 1994. He began with singing jingles then he went on to sing in many Bengali movies and TV serials. His musical journey took off when music director Debajyoti Mishra gave him a chance to sing Bhingroho theke ashe taar gola for Pratalghar, a national-award-winning film.

Pratik lent his voice for popular songs such as Srimoti, Tritiyo Purush, C/O Cinema, Ekaki Arannye, Jhinchak, All Rounder, Bangla Gaaner Chamak and many more. The fact that Pratik garnered recognition for his playback singing even before the release of any of his albums is truly astounding. He is known for singing popular songs such as Laughing Buddha, Sitapati Ramachandra, Naamti Amar Nadu Chand, and others,

He also got his training from Indian classical music legend, Shri Sheetal Mukherjee. That’s what made him popular among ghazal listeners.

After his death, West Bengal's CM Mamta Banerjee also expressed grief and called the incident an "irreparable damage" to the industry.
