Karnataka: In the wake of the Omicron scare, Bengaluru Urban J Manjunath, the district commissioner, asked residents not to panic and stated that the district will soon reach 100% second dose COVID immunization.
In the meantime, due to the Omicron strain of COVID-19, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Tuesday that new year celebrations in public venues will be limited, with celebrations allowed only in restaurants and clubs with 50% seating capacity and full vaccination required.
There will be no special events, and DJs will not be permitted during the celebrations. From December 30 to January 2, the limitations will be in effect.
So far, 200 cases of the novel COVID-19 variant Omicron have been reported in India. The novel COVID-19 variant was originally reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) on November 25 by South Africa. According to the WHO, the first confirmed B.1.1.529 infection was detected in a sample obtained on November 9 of this year.
