Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab face of the Aam Admi Party (AAP), will be sworn in as the state's Chief Minister at 11.30 a.m. at Khatkar Kalan, Bhagat Singh's ancestral village, in the presence of party convenor Arvind Kejriwal and all AAP MLAs, while outgoing CM Charanjit Singh Channi will not be present. The swearing-in ceremony will be held only for AAP members.
According to AAP sources, no other Chief Minister will be present at the oath-taking event but Kejriwal. AAP sources said, no Union Minister or major national leader has been invited to the oath-taking event, which would be attended only by AAP leaders and party's Punjab leaders.
In addition, the Chief Minister-family designate's and close friends, as well as prominent Punjabi artists, have been invited to the oath-taking event. Arrangements have been made for lakhs of people to attend the celebration on 100 acres of land in Khatkar Kalan.
The CM-designate invited the people of the state to his oath-taking ceremony in a video message published earlier, urging males to wear 'basanti (yellow)' turbans and women to wear yellow 'dupatta (stole)' for the occasion.
