NAGERCOIL: Rahul Gandhi remarked during a press conference in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, on the second day of his Bharat Jodo Yatra that the yatra was an attempt to undo the damage done by the BJP.
He said that he was just a follower and not in charge of the yatra.

The former president of the Congress party stated, "The RSS-BJP have their opinions about this Yatra, they are welcome to have their opinions, but the Congress party through the Yatra is attempting to undo the damage done by the BJP in the last eight years. They have divided the country." He said that the Congress leaders who are leaving the party are under pressure, "The BJP has better means to pressurise them than I do, but seriously the fight is not with the political party. Now they h have divided the country.

He added that getting the opposition together and the yatra are two different things, but that doing so would be beneficial.

He cited a little girl he had engaged with during the yatra when he claimed that Bharat, or unity among the people of India, was being torn apart by state and religious boundaries.

Even if price increases and unemployment are at an all-time high, only two to three business houses are in charge of the nation, according to Gandhi.

The 3,570 mile Bharat Jodo Yatra, which will pass through 12 states and two Union Territories, is being led by Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi and his travelling companions will begin meeting a select group of people at 7 a.m. during the yatra. until 10.30 a.m. every day, and an evening mass connect programme will be held. Gandhi and the other yatris will all retire to specially constructed containers for the day's repose.

Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of the Congress, said that the yatra will be a turning point in Indian politics and a fresh beginning.
