The government has announced the launch of a new digital platform, the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR), aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem in the country.

Under the Startup India programme, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is set to roll out this initiative. The BHASKAR platform is designed to centralise and enhance collaboration among startups, investors, mentors, service providers, and government bodies.

“This initiative aligns with the government's vision to make India a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship, reinforcing its commitment to the startup movement,” the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement.

India is currently home to over 1,46,000 DPIIT-recognised startups, and BHASKAR aims to tap into this potential by providing a comprehensive, digital platform that addresses challenges faced by both entrepreneurs and investors.

As a centralised registry, BHASKAR will offer seamless access to a wide range of resources, tools, and knowledge to support the entrepreneurial journey from ideation to execution. Stakeholders will receive personalised BHASKAR IDs, facilitating easier interactions, improving searchability, and enabling the discovery of relevant opportunities and partnerships.

The primary goal of BHASKAR is to create the world’s largest digital registry for the startup ecosystem. The platform will feature networking and collaboration tools, centralised access to resources, and personalised identification to enhance visibility and opportunities for stakeholders.

This initiative marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation. It will act as a hub where startups, investors, and service providers can collaborate, share ideas, and drive growth. The government has invited all stakeholders to join this transformative initiative.
