Indian athlete Bhavna Jat qualified for the Olympics to be held in Tokyo this year after setting a new national record in the 20 km walking distance of the national championship. The 23-year-old Rajasthan athlete has won the gold medal in 1: 29.54 seconds and won the Olympic ticket, whose qualification time was 1: 31.00 seconds. The spirit of the peasant family thus greatly improved their personal best performance of 1: 38.30 seconds during the national championship held in October last year and has earned gold medals.

She became the second Indian female athlete to qualify for the Olympics in the 20 km paddling event. Before her, Khushbir Kaur participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics in this event. Bhavna practices on her own under the supervision of coach Gurmukh Sihag in Jaipur. She has not participated in any international competition at the junior or senior level. She has also not been part of any camp of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). She made her senior debut at the 2016 National Inter-State Championships.
