Mumbai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested Ranchi's human rights activist, Father Stan Swamy, in custody for questioning in the Bhima-Koregaon violence case of Maharashtra. 83-year-old Stan Swamy was detained from Ranchi after questioning. Earlier, Swamy had dismissed the allegation of his involvement in Bhima-Koregaon.
On the condition of anonymity, two NIA officials confirmed that NIA took Swami from Ranchi to custody in connection with the investigation of Bhima Koregaon case. He said that it is more likely that Swami will be arrested by Friday morning. However, the authorities declined to provide details as to why they are being questioned again.
He said that yes, we had asked Stan Swamy to come to the office in Ranchi for questioning on Thursday and he was questioned about his role in the case. He was not arrested until Thursday, but he can be arrested at any time. This case is related to the incident of December 31, 2017 of Elgar Parishad.
