Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate has taken Sanjay Raut into custody. The Enforcement Directorate was investigating his house for the last 8 hours. The raid was conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the money laundering case related to the Patra Chawl scam. On Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate team reached Raut's house in Bhandup at 7 am.
After the arrival of the same Enforcement Directorate team, Sanjay Raut's advocate also reached his house. Many supporters had also gathered outside. The Enforcement Directorate had accused Sanjay Raut of not cooperating in the investigation. According to the news received, when he was asked by the investigating agency to accompany him to the Enforcement Directorate office, he said that he is the sitting MP. He had sought time till August 7. But now the Enforcement Directorate can take him into their custody and take him with them.
During the raid, Raut had clarified that as a responsible MP, he had to attend the Parliament session and hence he did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate on 20th and 27th. He also said that he has sought time till August 7 and if summoned on that day, he will appear before the Enforcement Directorate officials. Earlier on July 27, the Enforcement Directorate summoned Raut in the case and asked him to appear for questioning, but still, Raut did not appear and sought exemption from appearance. But then the Enforcement Directorate did not accept it and conducted a raid at their house and took him with them.
