New Delhi: An important organizational meeting of the BJP is expected to be held in Delhi next month, in which the extension of the term of the party's national president JP Nadda is likely to be approved. Party sources have informed that the BJP's national executive will also consider the strategy for the upcoming state assembly elections and review the current organizational activities. However, the main attraction of this meeting will be the postponement of organizational elections in view of several state elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This will lead to an automatic extension of the term of JP Nadda, whose three-year term ends next month, as internal elections in at least half of the party's state units must be completed before the process of selecting the next national president begins. After the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections in April-May 2024, the exercise of internal elections will begin. Notably, Nadda's predecessor and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were also given an extension before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Organizational elections began only after the Lok Sabha elections were over and Nadda was elected unopposed with Amit Shah joining the Union cabinet during Narendra Modi's second term as PM.

On the other hand, the BJP has increased the number of Lok Sabha seats considered difficult to win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from 144 to 160. In this, a large part of the constituencies comes under Bihar, as the BJP is preparing to contest elections on its own in most of the constituencies after breaking the alliance with the Janata Dal (United) (JDU). BJP's organizational leaders, who are spearheading the party's campaign and strategy on these seats, met party chief JP Nadda on Monday.
