This decision has been taken keeping in mind the health of the player and the danger of corona epidemic. When cricket starts again, the risk of players getting infected by this virus on the field will be ensured. The cricket committee headed by Anil Kumble recommended a ban on saliva. According to the new rule, players will not be allowed to apply saliva to shine the ball.

If any player uses saliva, the umpire will warn the team twice. Even after this, if the player makes a mistake, five runs will be added to the scoreboard of the opposition team as a penalty. Whenever saliva is used on the ball, the umpire must clean it completely. Only then will the game start again. In a Test match, the corona related rule will be applied, which means a player can be replaced in case of corona getting infected. However, this will be implemented only in Test cricket. At present, it will not be implemented in ODIs and T20s.
