In Punjab, there is.good news for government employees. In fact, the Punjab Government has approved the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. Following this decision of the State Government, 2 of the State as recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission from 1st July. 84 lakh employees 3. 07 lakh pensioners to get enhanced salary pension. The recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission are to be implemented from 1st July, 2021. According to media reports, the benefitof the new pay scale is set to come from January 1, 2016. The state government is scheduled to pay the dues for the last five years in 9 equal instalments in the next four and a half years.
The Sixth Pay Commission of Punjab had recommended a more than double increase in the salary of all government employees in the state. 18,000 per month from Rs.6,950 to Rs.18,000 per month.
Additional expenditure of Rs 3,500 crore estimated to increase every year from 2016: It has been revealed that the additional annual burden of Rs 3,500 crore is estimated from 2016 due to the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. It is also being said that as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, all major allowances were proposed to be increased. A government provider said that implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission will increase the minimum pension from Rs 3,500 per month to Rs 9,000. 900/- per month.
