Sherwani resident and businessman Bhupendra Singh Bisht says that in July-August 1987, there was a lot of damage due to heavy landslides in this hill.
The forest department then planted agave, sunflower plants, German grass and hawthorn in the hills to prevent landslides. In the hill slopes, large pits were made so that stones falling from the top could not reach the population. These efforts of the departments also became meaningful. Arvind Padiyar, a resident of Balrampur area, says that after 1990, no one has improved this area. Nainital Municipality Councilor Daya Suyal says that stones have fallen many times in the east even before the crack of Naina Peak is visible. A memorandum has been demanded in this regard to the Chief Minister and the Deenum demanding concrete action.
