New Delhi: On December 16, 2021, the Delhi Customs Department achieved a major success. Delhi Customs officials have recovered a large consignment of diamonds sent out of India. According to reports received from officials, the total weight of this consignment of diamonds is 1,082 carats and is said to be worth Rs 1.56 crore. The investigation of the case has been initiated.

On Friday, the Finance Ministry said that officials of the Air Cargo Export Commissionerate had ordered an inquiry into a 5,000-price plastic hot fix consignment on suspicion. When this plastic hot fix consignment was examined, packets of carved and polished diamonds emerged from inside it. When the officers suspected that they had removed the plastic hot fix packet and opened it, diamond packets came out from inside it. A hotfix was also pasted on the diamonds to hide them. According to officials, the recovered diamonds are priced at Rs 1.56 crore. It seems to be a case of sending diamonds out of the country by hiding them in parcels through air cargo.

The Delhi Customs officials reported that there was a plan to send diamond packets to Hong Kong with plastic hotfixes. But in time, the plot was foiled. It is yet to be as follows whether any arrests have been made. An inquiry has begun into the whole matter.
