Patna: A case of rape of a woman living on rent by a landlord on the pretext of marriage has come to light in Bihar's capital Patna. A case has been registered against the accused landlord Sudhendu Ranjan on the orders of SSP in this case under other sections including rape at Budha Colony police station. The police have swung into action while investigating the allegations.
Buddha Colony police station in-charge Nihar Bhushan confirmed that a complaint has been lodged against the landlord. He said that after recording the statement of the victim in the medical and court, further action will be taken against the accused on the basis of evidence. The victim says she lives in a rented house in the Kidwaipuri area with her five-year-old son. It is alleged that the landlord, Sudhendu Ranjan, told about getting divorced from his wife and married to the woman.
Since then, he has been raping the woman. In the meantime, she got pregnant. The accused also pretended to give the woman a flat to shut her mouth. Later, in order to get the house vacated, the landlord along with his friends, also beat her up several times. On May 29, 2022, a written application was filed in the matter with the Budha Colony police station. For not registering the case, the matter complained to the SSP.
