Patna: The 90-year old dream of the people of North Bihar is going to come to reality soon. The newly constructed railway bridge on the Kosi river is ready and soon the trains will start operating on it. There is a possibility of PM Modi inaugurating it through video conferencing before 20 September. Preparations are being done by East Central Railway.

It is noteworthy that the operation of trains on this new bridge has been tested in June. As soon as the trains start operating from this bridge, the 90-year-old dream of backward and remote villages of North Bihar will be fulfilled and they will be able to travel easily. As soon as this railway bridge starts, the distance of 298 km from Nirmali to Saraigad will be reduced to just 22 km.

At present, people have to travel 298 km via Darbhanga-Samastipur-Khagaria-Mansi-Saharsa to travel from Nirmali to Saraigarh. The construction of this two-kilometre long Kosi bridge was started on 6 June 2003. Former PM Atal Bihari Vapeyi laid the foundation stone for this project. The cost of this project is about 516 crores.
