Patna: Madan Mohan Jha has resigned from the post of president of the state Congress unit following the congress' continued defeat in Bihar and a disappointing performance in the elections. There were speculations about it since yesterday. He has now resigned from his post on Thursday. It is being said that his resignation has also been accepted. Madan Mohan Jha is currently in the national capital Delhi.

In Delhi, he met former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. He was clearly held responsible for the deteriorating condition of the Congress in Bihar. After nearly four years, Jha has been stripped of the responsibility of the state president. Veteran Congress leader and MLC Prem Chand Mishra has confirmed the resignation of Madan Mohan Jha. He said Jha has resigned. His resignation has also been accepted. Another party leader said he was being held responsible for the party's dismal performance and there was pressure on him to resign.

After resigning from the post of state Congress unit president, Madan Mohan Jha said, "I have already told the high command six months ago that my term is over, someone new should be appointed as president. What's the point of resignation in this? There is a little job that will be removed. When my term is over, it is certain to be the president of someone or the other.''
