Patna: Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi, quoting research, said air pollution increases the risk of coronavirus. Releasing the 'Clean Air Action Plan' prepared by the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) and other organizations for Gaya and Muzaffarpur, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi said, a study by Howard University in the United States has found that the risk of corona infection increases when PM particles in air increases by 1%.
Sushil Modi further said that pollution affects the lungs and reduces immunity. He said that the terms of new diesel vehicles in Muzaffarpur and Gaya have been banned, only electric vehicles will be given a new term. He said that the 'hotspot' with the highest air pollution in Patna will be identified in collaboration with IIT, Delhi.
24 new air monitoring stations are being built in 23 districts with an expenditure of Rs 30 crore in the next three months. Referring to the cities with air pollution, Sushil Modi said that the Government of India has placed Gaya and Muzaffarpur as one of the most air-polluted cities, including Patna.
